The Jewish Cultural Center Ljubljana is a place of living Jewish culture, memory, faith, art and community. It was founded in 2013 with the aim of returning Jewish history and heritage to Slovenia’s public space and introducing visitors to the diversity of Jewish life, past and present.
The Centre organises exhibitions, theatre and puppet performances, film screenings, concerts, literary evenings, lectures, discussions, workshops and educational programmes. It also celebrates Jewish holidays and important memorial dates, creating a meeting place for members of the Jewish community, local and international visitors, artists, researchers and young people.
We devote particular attention to researching Jewish history in Slovenia, preserving the memory of Holocaust victims, presenting contemporary Jewish life, and combating antisemitism, racism, intolerance and all forms of exclusion. Through our close partnership with Mini teater, we connect history, education and the arts, creating programmes that encourage dialogue, empathy and individual responsibility towards the community.
