Museum

The museum programme of the Jewish Cultural Centre collects, researches, preserves and presents traces of almost two thousand years of Jewish presence in the territory of present-day Slovenia. Through documents, photographs, objects, testimonies and personal stories, we introduce visitors to the lives of people whose contribution was long pushed to the margins of Slovenia’s historical memory.

Our work focuses on the history of Jewish communities in Slovenia, the destinies of individuals and families, the Holocaust, and Jewish life after the Second World War and today. The Museum organises permanent and temporary exhibitions, guided tours, research projects, educational programmes and artistic interpretations of historical material.

We do not wish to be merely a museum of a vanished world. We want to be a place where the past meets the present and where Jewish history becomes a visible and inseparable part of Slovenia’s shared history.
